Renasys wins Startup World Cup Stavanger
Eight finalists pitched live at the ONS Scale-Up Arena in Hall 4 on 25-26 August - four minutes to pitch, two minutes of questions, in front of a jury that followed both days. Our founder Nils-Henrik Stokke moderated both sessions.

The winner
After the final round on Wednesday, the jury picked Renasys - the Førde-based startup turning wastewater treatment into resource recovery. Their plug-and-play filtration system removes more than 99% of particles without chemicals, and founder Christopher Sveen took the stage to accept the win.
The headline prize: a fully-covered trip to San Francisco. As Stavanger’s winner, Renasys - and one company representative - flies out for the Startup World Cup Grand Finale on 4-6 November, with Innovation Dock covering the flight. On top of that, Renasys takes home:

Meet Renasys
Renasys was founded in 2020 and is based in Førde, on Norway’s west coast. The team has built a modular filtration system that fits into any existing wastewater treatment facility - no new construction, no chemicals - and instantly increases how much a plant can clean. Their tagline says it plainly: they take the waste out of waste water, turning a cost center into a resource recovery opportunity. The technology is already being tested with Sunnfjord Municipality, and renasys has been recognised as a commitment maker with the Clinton Global Initiative. Christopher Sveen is co-founder and CEO.

Havdis and BiaTech Corporation took second and third place, each receiving NOK 250,000 in AWS credits alongside Renasys.

What’s next
In San Francisco, Renasys goes up against regional winners from more than 100 competitions worldwide for a $1 million investment prize, at the Grand Finale on 6 November at Hilton Union Square. We’ll be cheering from Stavanger.
